11th District Candidate Moe Davis Speaks at Patton Parker House

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Siemens Family Law Group and the Patton Parker House hosted a small gathering for community members to meet and hear from Moe Davis, the democratic candidate running for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.

An accomplished lawyer in his own right, Davis spoke to potential future constituents at the outdoor evening event, keeping a pandemic-appropriate distance from the masked crowd interspersed across the porch and lawn.

For Jim Siemens, Davis’ words and ideas have been personally inspiring, so he volunteered to host a meet-and-greet with the candidate at his historic North Asheville office and venue space.

“I decided to open the Patton Parker House to Moe Davis much in the same way that I have previously hosted the Friends of the Pack Library, the League of Women Voters, the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County, Homeward Bound and Consider Haiti, to name a few,” Siemens said of the event. “I feel it is important to support both the community and community leaders.”

In March, Davis won the democratic nomination for his district, advancing to run against republican candidate Madison Cawthorn in the November general election. Davis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1983-2008, and his career experience includes work as a chief prosecutor, an administrative law judge, a law professor, a national security expert and as a network television commentator with ABC, CNN, NBC, Fox and MSNBC, as well as on NPR.

“I’m fascinated by lawyers who are also leaders — unique individuals who can focus on details, maintain a healthy big-picture perspective, and connect with individuals from all walks of life in a modest and genuine way,” Siemens said. “What I heard from Moe is an awareness of the needs of his constituents, including better broadband access areas, better schools and better jobs. I sense an optimistic perspective when I listen to Moe, which signals to me an energy for leadership in challenging times.”
